Mamma Mia sing-along happening to raise funds for the Britannia Panopticon

Mamma Mia’s universal appeal shows no signs of dying off - and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s face it, half the fun of the hit musical and blockbuster film is singing along to those classic ABBA tunes - which is why we can see a stampede forming for the latest event at the Britannia Panopticon.

The historic venue - the world’s oldest surviving music hall - will host a screening of the movie on August 30, encouraging everyone who comes along to belt out Dancing Queen alongside Meryl Streep and co.

The event will be used to raise funds for the conservation of the once-lost theatre, now a hidden gem just off the Trongate, for those of you who haven’t yet paid a visit.

For anyone who doesn’t know the story of Mamma Mia (how?!), it follows bride-to-be Sophie, who goes behind mum Donna’s back and invites to her wedding three men who could be her long-lost dad.

If you’re a long-time fan then you’re probably already texting your pals - if so then the event runs 7-9.30pm at the Britannia Panopticon and all the details you need, including tickets (£6.09-£8.13) are available here .

Remember, the stage show is coming back to Glasgow next year too, with the worldwide Mamma Mia! tour rocking up to the King's Theatre in April 2020.
