Mamby on the Beach adds T-Pain, Ladies of LCD Soundsystem, Noname to lineup

If the piping plovers weren’t menacing enough, now there’s a Monster looming over next month’s Mamby on the Beach.

The Aug. 23-24 music festival announced Tuesday that rapper T-Pain, who wore a Monster costume to victory on the first season of “The Masked Singer,” will be part of the lineup. Also added: Ladies of LCD Soundsystem (a DJ duo of women from the acclaimed dance-music group), Bronzeville rapper Noname, New York singer Bryce Vine and Chicago electronic duo Iris Temple.

As previously announced, the fifth annual fest also will present Brockhampton, Troye Sivan and dozens of other artists as well as beach-friendly games and interactive activities including silent disco yoga sessions, nutritional and wellness workshops, live painting, fire performances and art installations.

This is supposed to be Mamby’s first year in a new location, Montrose Beach. But uncertainty arose after a pair of endangered piping plovers carved a nest in the sand, where an egg was spotted last month.

After conservationists raised concerns, Jerry Mickelson of concert organizer JAM Productions, told the Sun-Times he was prepared to relocate the festival if one or more baby birds is being raised on the beach as the show dates near.
