Mamba user feels if he does not take the drug he will 'become ill'

A Mamba user caught four times by the police with the drug feels if does not take it he will "become ill", a court has heard.

Stuart Cliff, 44, pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B drug at different locations at the end of last year.

They were at Curzon Court, St Ann's, on October 6; Fletcher Gate, Nottingham, on November 13; Clumber Street, Nottingham, on November 23; Trent Street, Nottingham, on December 10.

Cliff, of London Road, Nottingham, was stopped by police on various streets in Nottingham and found in possession of an amount of Mamba consistent with personal use, Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard.

His lawyer told the court Cliff has a Mamba habit. At the time of the offences, he was living on the streets.

"He feels he needs to be taking the drug, if he doesn't take the drug, he will become ill." said his lawyer. "On speaking to him, the way the drug works, is to give a person warmth in the cold and a sense of belonging when he is on his own".

Cliff was fined £80 each on two of the charges and no separate penalty was passed on the remaining charges. He is required to pay a victim surcharge of £35 and £85 costs.
