Mamadou Thiam to Hearts transfer back ON as Daniel Stendel targets Barnsley star

Hearts are working on a double deal to sign Mamadou Thiam and Marcel Langer.

Barnsley star Thiam was the subject of an enquiry earlier on the window along with right back Jordan Green, who ended going to Newport County.

Record Sport understands that move could now be back on ahead of Friday's deadline.

A loan deal is more likely, although Thiam’s contract at Oakwell is up at the end of the season so there is scope for something longer term.

Daniel Stendel wants to add an attacking player to his squad after allowing veteran Steven MacLean to go on loan to Raith Rovers.

Thiam can operate out wide or through the middle, offering Hearts versatility at the top end of the pitch.

Meanwhile, Schalke midfielder Langer is reportedly set to arrive in Edinburgh for a medical having previously worked with Stendel at Hannover.

Langer is expected to sign within the next 24 hours barring any issues with his medical.

His contract at the Arena AufSchalke is up at the end of the season and the player has taken the opportunity to work under Stendel once more.

Langer can also operate at left back, which could prove useful should there be any late movement regarding Aaron Hickey.

The teenager has been linked with a host of English clubs including champions Manchester City, although there is the possibility of the 17-year-old being loaned back to the Jambos as part of any potential deal.
