Mamadou Fofana targeted by Rangers as agent reveals three teams battling Ibrox club for talented midfielder

Rangers are targeting Mamadou Fofana, the midfielder's agent has revealed, but they face competition from Russia.

With the Scottish Premiership season set to be declared over on Monday, the Ibrox club are turning their attentions to the 2020/21 season.

Manager Steven Gerrard will be looking to strengthen his squad to stop Celtic winning a record 10th title on the spin.

And it seems 22-year-old Metz midfielder Fofana is one of the names in the frame.

Agent Seku Traore said: " Rangers are looking at Mamadou, but they are not alone.

"There are clubs in Russia interested, including Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow.

"We will decide this summer what is the best option for him."

Metz snapped up Fofana from Turkish side Alanyaspor for £400,000 two years ago and he's established himself in the French side this season.

Fofana, valued at around £2.5million, revealed last month he didn't know what his future will hold.

He said: "I really enjoyed the first half of the season, but lost my place after that. That's what happens in football. It's up to me to fight for my spot in the team.

"I'm not going to say when I want to leave Ligue 1. I still have two years on the contract and I like the city and the club. But I have ambitions to reach the top of the game. I think anything is possible for me."
