Father Christmas has been ousted from the caves at the Malt Cross this year - but youngsters can still look forward to a visit from the big man in red.
Santa's Grotto will be relocated to a workshop at the former Victorian music hall, which is now one of the city's quirkiest bars.
Last year's grotto - a first for the venue - was a sell-out success.
However, maintenance works following a burst main pipe in St James's Street mean the caves are currently inaccessible to the public.
Instead Santa will be taking up residence in a festive Victorian library grotto with a traditional sweet shop.
Milly Lawson, heritage coordinator at the Malt Cross said: “Back by popular demand the Malt Cross is proudly running its Christmas grotto over two weekends so we can look forward to welcoming even more children and families to enjoy a slice of a traditional Victorian Christmas this year.

“This year’s grotto will be held in our workshop space making it fully accessible and even cosier. Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our heritage team in full Victorian costume and be dazzled with a delicious Victorian sweet shop.
"This is our favourite event of the year and we can’t wait to run it again.”
The Christmas grotto will be open on December 14-15 and December 21-22. Tickets are £5 per child and can be booked online at maltcross.com, calling 0115 941 1048 or by visiting the Malt Cross.
This Sunday (December 15) the Malt Cross will be running Milk and Carols, a family-friendly version of its popular Beer and Carols, which includes an appearance from Father Christmas on stage.
