Malone have announced an exciting new coaching set-up for their women’s teams ahead of the new season.
The Gibson Park club have confirmed that Jamie McMullan will take on the role of head coach, while Niamh McHugh comes in as defence coach with clubman Derek McCallion assisting.
McMullan has coached with Grosvenor RFC, Grosvenor Grammar School and Loughborough Students RFC and McHugh joins from Loughbrough College where she held the defence coach post and was in charge of the college’s unbeaten 2nd XV and the Loughborough Lightning Centre of Excellence development team.
McCallion has been working with the girls’ section for the last three years and another club stalwart, Joe McAllister, will take on the role of head of girls youth coaching and overseeing all four youth teams.
“I am delighted to get the opportunity to work with a very exciting group of players who are ambitious and want to progress," McMullan said.
"I am looking forward to starting as soon as we can and provide an opportunity for the ladies to get back to training, playing and enjoying their rugby.”
Malone Rugby Football Club, situated on the Cregagh Road in Belfast, has two women’s adult teams and has a female youth section catering for under-12s to under 18s, offering a pathway to senior and representative rugby.
At present the club boasts 13 current players on the Ulster squad and an Irish international in Neve Jones.
