Malik Jackson on Fletcher Cox being biggest reason he signed with the Eagles

Malik Jackson came to Philadelphia Eagles with a goal of resurrecting his reputation after things fell apart in Jacksonville and he was released for salary cap purposes. Jackson turned down more money to join the Philadelphia Eagles because he wanted to play for a winner and, more importantly, he wanted to play with and learn from All-Pro defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

“The best opportunity for me to be where I want to be,” Jackson said Monday on the 94WIP Midday Show. “For me coming here with Fletcher Cox was a big deal for me, be able to see what he does. A guy who is gonna be in the Hall of Fame one day. I want to be able to sit behind him and see his work ethic, see what he brings, see what he sees, see where he places his hands and that’s gonna make me a better player.”

Seeking a fresh start after things got stagnant in Jacksonville with the Jaguars, Jackson signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Eagles in March and should allow Cox to wreak even more havoc on opposing offenses around the league because teams won’t be able to double team him as much.
