Male teenager 'presents himself to Gardai' following stabbing of 18-year-old Azzam Raguragui in Dundrum on Friday night

Gardai have said that "a male teenager has presented himself at a South Dublin Garda Station" this afternoon following the stabbing of 18-year-old Azzam Raguragui in Dundrum on Friday night.

The male teen is currently assisting investigating Gardai with their enquiries in connection with the fatal stabbing.

The investigating Gardaí are currently not considering any racial motive in relation to this ongoing investigation.

They are continuing to examine the scene and a Post Mortem examination is currently being carried out.

Superintendent Martin McGonnell has requested privacy for the family of the deceased at this time and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family.

Pals pay tribute to popular teen who was stabbed to death in south Dublin park  

The eighteen-year-old was attacked in Finsbury Park near his home in Dundrum.

It's understood that the tragic teen was walking home from evening prayers when he was attacked.

Azzam, who was described as a friendly, cheerful young man, was a GAA fan who hoped to become an entrepreneur.

Gardai launch murder investigation following horror stabbing of teenage boy in Dundrum  

It's believed that the horror stabbing happened shortly after 8 o'clock yesterday evening.

The young man was treated at the scene by emergency services before being rushed to St James's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Three different crime scenes have been preserved in the area around Finsbury Park.

Azzam, who is known to his pals as 'Azzy', was a popular young man in the Dundrum area.

Special prayers in his memory will be held at the Sufi Mosque on Talbot Street on Saturday night.
