A man has been left injured after a male was spotted in possession of weapons in an Ayrshire town.
Police confirmed this evening that they were alerted to a report of a man wielding weapons on Stewarton's Main Street on Saturday just after 4pm in the town.
Cops were then alerted that a man was assaulted in relation to the earlier incident and the victim was taken to Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital with what's understood to be a "non-life threatening" injury.
Officials now say they're following a positive line of inquiry but have asked for anyone with information to get in touch.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a man in possession of weapons on Main Street, Stewarton, around 4.10pm on Saturday, September 11.
"Following police attendance and subsequent enquiries, a report was made of a man assaulted related to this incident.
"The man attended Crosshouse Hospital with what was believed to be a non-life threatening injury.
"Officers are following a positive line of inquiry. Anyone with information about this incident should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 2567 of September 11."
