Male body found near Ogmore by Sea in search for missing Bristol yachtsman

Police have found a body during the search for missing Bristol yachtsman David Moore.

Officers searching for Mr Moore found the remains on June 16 near Ogmore by Sea in Wales, police confirmed today (July 4).

A search for the yachtsman was launched when his boat ‘Egoist’ was found washed up on Berrow Beach in Burnham-on-Sea.

He departed Watchet Marina on his yacht on the afternoon of June 1, reports Somerset Live.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has said a formal identification has yet to be carried out.

“The body of a man was found by South Wales Police at about 1.45pm on Sunday (June 16) near to Ogmore by Sea," a police spokesman said.

“The family of missing yachtsman David Moore have been informed.

“Formal identification still has to be carried out.”

Earlier in the month (June 9) another male body was found on Burnham-on-Sea Beach near The Esplanade. Despite the close proximity to where Mr Moore’s boat was discovered, police confirmed it was unrelated.
