In a recent interview with MovieWeb, veteran actor Malcolm McDowell shared insights into his approach to acting and his upcoming role in the thriller film, Cellphone. McDowell, known for his iconic performances in films like A Clockwork Orange and Star Trek Generations, revealed that he does not subscribe to the 'method acting' technique. Instead, he focuses on making his roles as engaging as possible with the material provided to him.

McDowell emphasized that he does not delve into crafting elaborate backstories for his characters if they are not explicitly outlined in the script. He expressed his dedication to bringing life to the roles he is given and making them interesting for the audience. The actor's pragmatic approach to acting has been a consistent feature of his career spanning decades across various mediums, including movies, TV shows, and video games.

Despite his extensive experience in the industry, McDowell's passion for acting remains undiminished. He highlighted the joy he finds in collaborating with talented individuals on set and the camaraderie that comes with working in the entertainment industry. McDowell's enthusiasm for his craft was evident as he reflected on his ongoing love for acting and the fulfillment he derives from the creative process.

When asked about his future in acting, McDowell expressed a willingness to continue as long as he finds enjoyment in the work. The actor's positive outlook on aging was inspired by his experience working with veteran actress June Squibb, demonstrating his admiration for performers who defy age-related stereotypes in the industry.

McDowell's upcoming project, the horror/thriller film Cellphone, directed by Luke Sommer and written by Rachel Sommer, features a talented ensemble cast including Whitney Rose Pynn, Justin Malik Jackson, Jared Noble, Isaac Versaw, and Katherine Barber. McDowell lends his voice to the film as a mysterious character integral to the plot, adding a layer of intrigue to the narrative.

Cellphone follows the story of Wynne, a woman grappling with the loss of her fiancé, who begins receiving ominous messages on her cell phone foretelling her fate. The suspenseful plot unfolds as Wynne races against time to decipher the cryptic messages before facing a dire consequence.

Cellphone is scheduled for release on VOD and Digital platforms on February 13, 2024, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures, promising audiences a gripping cinematic experience with McDowell's enigmatic presence enhancing the suspenseful narrative.
