Malcolm Jenkins to skip Eagles OTAs in possible contract dispute

Malcolm Jenkins knows his value and what he means to the Eagles, so news of the star safety skipping all of the team’s offseason workouts and training is now becoming unsettling. Adam Schefter of ESPN.com is reporting that Jenkins is expected to remain away from the team through organized team activities.

Jeff McLane of Philly.com confirmed the report.

We reported about Jenkins skipping voluntary workouts and why it should be viewed as no big deal because of his work ethic and the fact that he needs rest after playing every down last season. Jenkins is due $11.4 million this season and $10.8 million in 2020, making him one of the highest-paid Eagles. Jenkins is just no longer the highest-paid safety in the league after Tyrann Mathieu, Landon Collins, Lamarcus Joyner, and Earl Thomas signed more lucrative deals this offseason.

Jenkins is now the 10th-highest paid safety in the league, according to Over The Cap, and if you assess overall value and importance to the ballclub, then you understand Jenkins should be paid more.
