Malawi women break into song as Meghan Markle skypes them during Prince Harry's visit

A college in Malawi visited by Prince Harry was today treated to another royal appearance.

Students and staff at the Nalikule College of Education joyfully broke into song as Meghan Markle dialled into a meeting during the Duke of Sussex's visit.

The Duchess of Sussex had from Cape Town yesterday with baby Archie but decided to show her support to the young women at the college by making an appearance through Skype.

Prince Harry visited the Nalikule College of Education today to learn about a network of young women who have been supported to attend secondary school.

A video tweeted by Chris Ship, ITV News royal editor, shows a group of women being surprised to the Duchess' appearance on a screen. The room breaks out in a cheer before the women begin singing in excitement.

The CAMA alumni network is a group of young women who have been supported to attend secondary school through help from the Campaign for Female Education. They are positive role models, leaders and entrepreneurs, working to lift their communities out of poverty.

The Queen's Commonwealth Trust has been working with CAMA since 2017, and DFID Malawi has been supporting CAMA and the Campaign for Female Education since 2012.

CAMA is 21 years old, with 140,000 members across Africa.

In Malawi, the CAMA network has been rapidly expanding. There are 17,500 members. On average, each CAMA member now supports another three children to go to school with her own resources.
