Plans are underway for Mako Komuro, eldest daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, to leave for the United States with her husband Kei Komuro on Sunday, sources have told The Yomiuri Shimbun.

Mako lost her official status as a member of the Imperial family upon her marriage in October.

The couple, both 30, will be starting their new life together in New York, where the legal firm her husband works for is located.

According to the sources, the Komuros are to depart from Haneda Airport on Sunday morning.

Following their Oct. 26 nuptials, the former princess stayed in an apartment in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward while making the necessary preparations for her departure, such as procuring a passport and a visa.

Although Kei did not pass the New York bar exam he sat for in July, he plans to take the exam again this coming February.
