The second session of Makkah Economic Forum 2019 was inaugurated Saturday by Prince Khalid al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region.
Prince Khalid saw, in the presence of Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, deputy governor of Makkah Region, the signing of an agreement to establish the Islamic world center in Al-Faisaliyah and another agreement with Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Khaled al-Faleh to establish the solar energy project in Makkah region.
Faisal also witnessed signing a third agreement with Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Mohammed Saleh bin Taher Benten to operate the global oasis in Makkah and a fourth agreement with Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) Ibrahim al-Omar to reinforce local and foreign investments in the region.
Hisham al-Falih, head of the forum's executive committee, delivered a speech by which he welcomed Prince Khalid, deputy governor, the guests, government and private sectors, sponsors, commercial chambers in the region and all parties who contributed to the organization of this forum.
Falih stressed keenness of the forum’s organizing committee to abide by the guidelines of Makkah governor and his deputy that the forum must focus on sustainable development programs and build integrating ties between the public and private sectors in a way that goes in tandem with Saudi Vision 2030.
The forum commenced its activities with a ministerial session with the participation of Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Mohammed Saleh bin Taher Benten, Saudi Housing Minister Majed al-Hogail, Saudi Minister of Labor and Social Development Ahmad al-Rajhi, Minister of Justice Dr. Walid al-Samaani and Minister of Trade Majed al-Qasabi.
The forum, organized by the Governorate of Makkah Region and Chambers of Jeddah, Makkah, and Taif, takes places in Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel from March 23 till March 26.
