'Making Bootle great again’ - the indoor market launching in Liverpool this weekend

You’ve probably driven past Bootle’s Indoor Market plenty of times - and never known what you could find inside.

Previously home to Bank Hall Shopping Bazaar , the warehouse on Bankhall Street in Bootle has been a treasure trove for shoppers for years.

The indoor market was recently taken over by business partners Jim and Larry Murphy, who have transformed the site into an artisan market.

While the previous markets have had more of a flea market vibe, the newly refurbished site have an artisanal, upmarket feel to it.

Before Jim and Larry took over at the start of July, the building had been left in disrepair, filled with rubbish and items left over from the previous tenants - and now it looks brand new.

Jim Murphy, who runs the market, said: “When the warehouse became available I immediately said I’d do it.

“I run The Old Griffin Antiques and Collectables just around the corner and it is the same landlord; so when it came up we agreed.

“We were only allowed access on July 1 so we’ve been really busy cleaning it all out and getting ready for our opening.

“I think people really love a market, and this will be great for the area. We’ve got 34 stalls and we’re protected from the weather - we’ve had a really positive response so far.

“We’ve built the stalls ourselves, giving it a real rustic look.”

The new market features 34 artisan stalls made completely from reclaimed pallets, along with a cafe that seats 40 people.

The stalls are set to serve everything from cakes and sweets to vape products and gin.

Among the stall holders joining the New Indoor Bootle Market are Liverpool Alchemist, Buttercup Bakery, Flowerworks Florist, Inner Craftiness and many more.

“I want the market to be a meeting place for people, a sort of community hub.

“Providing jobs for local people - and as one customer said ‘making Bootle great again’.”

The New Indoor Bootle Market launches today and is open every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 3:30pm.
