Dana White’s Contender Series contract winner Maki Pitolo will make his UFC debut in Australia.
UFC officials today announced that Pitolo will take on Australia’s Callan Potter in a welterweight clash at UFC 243, which takes place Oct. 5 (Oct. 6 locally) at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
Pitolo (12-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) competed at middleweight at July’s Dana White’s Contender Series 19 event, picking up a first-round TKO over Justin Sumter. With the result, Pitolo scored a UFC deal as a part of the first episode in series history where all five winners were brought into the world’s largest MMA promotion. “Coconut Bombz” now owns a three-fight winning streak.
Meanwhile, Potter (17-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC) made his UFC debut in February, competing at UFC 234, which also took place in Melbourne. That night, he suffered a TKO loss to Jalin Turner in a lightweight affair.
With the addition to the card, UFC 234 now includes:
