Makeup guide: Lauren Luke's purple eyes

Smooth on a matt eye primer - try Urban Decay Primer Potion - to even out any tiny lines and wrinkles. Next apply a rich purple - I've used Mac's Pigment in Grape - and blend with a brush up to the crease, keeping the colour intense close to the eyelashes. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae

Take a black eye pencil - Lancôme's Le Crayon Khôl is nice and creamy. Work gently in from the outer corner below the lash line. For a smokier effect, smudge with a cotton bud. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae

We're aiming for a two-tone glow to complement the purple eyes, so take a small amount of any bronzing powder and with a large brush gently sweep back and forth on the cheekbone into the hairline. Swirl a tiny touch of pink blusher across the apple of your cheeks for extra lift. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae

Eyes are the main attraction here, so lips don't have to work that hard. Go for a soft, summery pink - I've used L'Oréal Glam Shine in Candy Blush - to give a light-reflecting sheen. Now go back to your eyes and add a couple of coats of black Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae
