Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has said seeing Liverpool’s success ‘hurts’ him as he commented on their remarkable season.
Berbatov played for United between 2008 and 2012 and scored 56 goals in 149 appearances including a hat-trick in a 3-2 win against Liverpool in 2010.
He won two Premier League titles in what was a golden period at Old Trafford but since then the Red Devils have been knocked off their perch and they haven't beaten Liverpool, who are currently chasing an unprecedented quadruple, in the top flight since 2018.

The latest meeting between the sides took place last week with Jurgen Klopp's men running out emphatic 4-0 winners at Anfield.
“It hurts but you have to respect Liverpool," Berbatov wrote in his his Betfair monthly column.
“It was hard to watch United’s 4-0 defeat against them. There was a massive difference on the pitch between the two sides, you could see it with the second goal which was unbelievable. Everyone connected to United is watching Liverpool with envy right now.
"But at the same time when you watch them you have to respect them for the way they play - they are playing good football and they show it on the pitch.
“There is a big difference now between Liverpool and United. Liverpool are targeting a quadruple, United are aiming to scrape into Europe. They have a chance to make history, it’s going to be difficult but not impossible to do it.”
Berbatov also revealed who he would be cheering on in the title race with United's city rivals Manchester City currently one point clear of Liverpool at the top.
He said: “I don’t like supporting City but I don’t want to see Liverpool winning four trophies for f**k sake. Seeing how they have progressed and how United have regressed makes my heart bleed.”
