'Make sense' - Nottingham Forest sent transfer message over star's future

Nottingham Forest fans have had their say on the future of Joao Carvalho at the City Ground.

The playmaker was linked with a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor yesterday , with manager Unal Karaman said to have had the Portuguese recommended to him according to reports in media outlet Fotospor.

Forest 's record signing at £13 million in 2018, the 22-year-old is struggling to get into Sabri Lamouchi's starting lineup as his side chase promotion to the Premier League.

Carvalho was signed by Aitor Karanka and has played under three managers in his short time on Trentside.

The Portugal Under-21 seems to divide opinion among the Reds' fanbase, with some keen to trade him in while others reckon he has too much talent to be sold.

Here's the pick of the reaction on social media...

@ d_p_ball : For me the Carvalho rumours make sense. Absolutely no doubt he’s talented but it doesn’t seem to be working out for him, the odd flash in moments but unfortunately he just can’t do it over 90 minutes consistently and you can’t carry a player like that in English football

John Bouri : Sell if we can recoup! Cannot think of any game where he has looked like a £13 million player. Too lightweight. Okay he has scored the odd goal. He hasn’t created many either. Flashes of quality are few and far between. Luxury that few teams can afford. Sorry to be this negative but sentiment is out of the window when one expects a lot from an expensive player (by championship standards).

Austen Ozzy Wood : If we sell with the money go get bradley dack

Andrew Shaw : Get rid! Our head "coach" needs to drop off "passengers" like him!

Diarmuid O Dubhconna : Cash in

Sam George : Sell him to get another striker and winger

Duane Topley : If you got 13 mill back I'm sure with abit of research you could get 3 championship level players who do better than him ie goals and assist and not just the odd trick

Chris Staton : As the most expensive signing in the club's history he is a massive disappointment - sell!

Callum Wilbraham : I don’t know how fans can happily say ‘get rid’ he’s 22 and has already showed some class. The only reason he isn’t starting lately is because Silva is on fire at the minute. Keep Carvalho and keep him learning and he’ll be a great addition to our squad

Chris Smithurst : If we get good money for him we could strengthen elsewhere. Ie left wing and striker. Reserve goalie etc

Forest's Joao Carvalho (Dan Westwell)

Kevin Smedley : Keep him, the best is yet to come!!

Steve Parkes : As the "disney song goes" "let Him go Let Him go"

Paul Carrington : Keep him he needs to start every game from the first whistle
