‘Make him captain’ - Spurs fans agree on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Euros display against Wales

Tottenham fans were once again left hailing the performance of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in Denmark’s 4-0 win against Wales at Euro 2020.

The Spurs man was selected in the heart of midfield for the Danes and turned in a particularly classy and determined display as his nation cruised into the quarter-finals of the competition.

He predictably played the full 90 minutes in Amsterdam, with a brace from Kasper Dolberg and strikes each from Joakim Mæhle and Martin Braithwaite sealing a hugely impressive win.

It all meant that Denmark became the first nation in the competition to book their place in the last-eight of the European Championships - an even more impressive feat considering the hugely emotional circumstances of the group stages.

Key to all of that though was certainly Hojbjerg’s presence in the centre as he continually got the better of the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen and Joe Morrell.

His performance was certainly noted by Spurs fans who once again took to Twitter to praise the former Southampton man.

With Denmark booking their place in the quarter-finals, Hojbjerg and his teammates will now look forward to seeing who they match up against as they aim to plot a route through to the final four.

They will face either one of the Netherlands or the Czech Republic in Baku on Saturday evening.

Should they also win that game, then they will then be handed a semi-final showdown at Wembley Stadium.
