Make a pledge for Reconciliation Day

A pledge for Reconciliation Day

The postcard being delivered to Canberra households.

We are having a long weekend this weekend for Reconciliation Day on Monday, in which a greater connection between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is encouraged. This year's event has gone online, due to COVID-19, with a range of activities, from watching workshop videos to creating art.

Postcards are also being delivered to all Canberra households this week on which Canberrans are being asked to pledge their support for reconciliation. You can upload your pledge to social media using the hashtag #ReconciliationDayCBR. People are also being asked to submit a creative response to reconciliation, such as photography, drawing or poetry. Go to www.events.act.gov.au/reconciliation-day/create for details and to download an activity pack for younger Canberrans to do with their family. You can also watch video workshops curated by local filmmaker Marissa McDowell.
