‘Make a comeback in your career and renew your contract’ - Luke Shaw aims penalty dig at Paul Pogba

Luke Shaw aimed a friendly dig at Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba after his extraordinary penalty run up in the win over Everton.

Pogba took his eccentric approach from the penalty spot to new levels on Sunday afternoon, taking 27 steps in a bizarre run up that took almost 12 seconds before shooting for goal.

England international Jordan Pickford kept his effort out with a fine save – the second spot kick the Frenchman has missed this season – before tucking away the rebound to give his side the lead.

Pogba admitted post-match he would have to change his technique after another close call – sentiments echoed by his manager Jose Mourinho.

A win at Old Trafford ensured the miss wasn’t too costly with Shaw piling in on his teammate post-match.

"Make a comeback in your career and renew your contract," Shaw wrote on Twitter, alongside the hashtag #ThingsYouCanDoDuringPogbasPenaltyRunUp.

Shaw has been one of United’s best performers this season, signing a new long-term contract in October.

But his future at Old Trafford looked bleak as recently as last season, having failed to establish him in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI before the current campaign.

Shaw’s time in Manchester has also been hampered by a double leg break suffered in September 2015.
