SOME Stagecoach drivers have been advised to return to work following strikes across Scotland.
Six weeks of continuous action started on June 9 and the action was due to last until July 21.
In the latest update, drivers will return to work tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18) in the west of Scotland.
The full update from Stagecoach states:
- Full service will resume in Ardrossan, Arran, and Kilmarnock
- In Ayr, all routes will operate, but with a reduced frequency
- Cumbernauld and Dumfries & Galloway will continue with no changes
No further details on the pay deal will be provided at this stage.
Around 430 Stagecoach drivers had taken action after last minute pay talks did not lead to an improvement in an “unacceptable” 4% pay offer previously rejected by members.
Buses operating out of several depots in Ayr, Arran, Ardrossan and Kilmarnock servicing bus routes in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Glasgow, have been affected.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach West Scotland commented: "Following further discussions between Stagecoach West Scotland and Unite the Union, all drivers have been advised to return to work at our Ayrshire depots on Wednesday, June 18.
"A ballot will take place on Friday, June 20, on a deal which has been recommended for acceptance by Unite the Union.
"We thank our customers for their continued patience and will update further as soon as we are able to do so."
