Majority of ScotRail trains cancelled tomorrow as strike action over pay dispute continues

The majority of ScotRail will be cancelled tomorrow due to strike action.

An ongoing pay dispute will mean a minimal number of services will be running on Sunday. Limited bus services will be put on for key workers.

A number of key routes will have the vast majority of their services cancelled.

The rail provider has put on routes to University Hospital Hairmyres, Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, University Hospital Wishaw and Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

Some ScotRail managers and support staff will be stepping in to cover for ticket examiners to help keep a small number of trains and customers moving.

ScotRail tweeted a warning to customers and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The post said: "We’re advising customers that most ScotRail services will be cancelled Sunday, 23 May, because of strike action by the RMT during the COVID-19 pandemic over calls for a 50% increase in overtime payments for no additional hours worked."

A statement on their website added: " We appreciate the inconvenience this will have on your travel plans, and we are running every service possible to minimise disruption."

The RMT union is calling for pay justice and equality for workers and has launched a petition.

Last month members voted in favour of a strike and May 2 marked the beginning of six weeks of action.

Information on the services that will still be running can be found on the ScotRail website.
