Majorca plane crash: Child among five dead as helicopter collides with plane over the Spanish island

Five people have been killed in a crash between a helicopter and an ultralight plane in Majorca.

Officials on the Spanish Island have say one of the casualties was a minor.

The crash, which happened at 1.35pm local time near Inca, a town on the Balearic Island of Majorca, which is a popular destination for holidaymakers.

The identity and nationality of the victims is still unknown. Images shared on Twitter suggested the crash had taken place close to a home, with pictures showing the wreckage of an aircraft lying close to a swimming pool, as local firefighters worked to douse smoking wreckage with a hose.

Francina Armengol, President of the Balearic Islands, said she was "worried and shocked" at the news of the crash.

"Our thoughts are with the victims," she added.
