Major vintage clothing chain Beyond Retro is opening a new store in Bristol city centre

It can often seem like the high street is facing an insurmountable fight to survive with closures coming thick and fast.

But it's not all doom and gloom, as highlighted by the imminent arrival of Beyond Retro's newest branch.

The vintage clothing chain, which has stores in London, Brighton and Sweden, is opening in the heart of Bristol, opposite The Card Factory in Broadmead.

Beyond Retro's first-ever store opened in a disused dairy in East London, where it built up a reputation for being an 'innovative retailer with a rock ’n’ roll heart'.

It soon emerged as a trailblazer in the trendy Brick Lane, selling 20th-century fashion in all its glory.

On occasion it hosts 'garage sales' where a wide range of garments are on sale for just £5 or less, making it popular among savvy bargain hunters.

And the company, led by creative individuals, will now bring its second-hand wares to Bristol, aiming to offer a 'leading selection of handpicked vintage clothing to style conscious shoppers'.

Alongside a strong online presence, Beyond Retro has three branches in London, one in Brighton, and four in Sweden, making this its ninth worldwide.

The brand also makes a conscious effort to stay green in all elements of the business, from packaging to shipping, to minimise any impact on the environment.

Its new shop nearly exactly a year after Sobey's, a store similar in style, opened in The Arcade, a little further along Broadmead.

Beyond Retro's global managing director Kate Peters said: “We’re thrilled to continue the Beyond Retro journey with our new store in Bristol.

“With such a thriving creative scene and unique style, we can’t wait to be a part of the city.”

When will it open?

The new Beyond Retro store will open on April 12.
