Major update on Abdallah Sima's future as Brighton make decision on forward

Abdallah Sima has agreed on a contract extension with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 23-year-old spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Rangers from the English Premier League outfit.

Sima was a roaring success at Ibrox, scoring 16 goals and assisting three across 39 appearances.

A permanent deal never came to fruition, and Sima joined French outfit Stade Brestois on loan at the beginning of last season.

He netted 12 times for the Ligue 1 side, with three of his strikes coming in the Champions League against Sturm Graz and Salzburg.

There was no option to buy included in Sima's loan in France, and he is a Brighton player once again this summer.

Questions have been raised over his future, although the club announced today that the frontman has agreed on a contract extension to extend his stay at the AMEX. When his deal is now due to expire remains unclear.

Sima has never actually made a competitive appearance for Brighton.

After his loan at Rangers came to an end, he penned an emotional message on social media, saying: "The time has come for me to say goodbye to a club for which I have a lot of affection, for which I took immense pleasure in playing for this club.

"It is very difficult to find the words but I would like to thank all the club staff, the staff, my teammates and especially you, the supporters, who have always been there for me and for the club. It's you who makes this club so special!

"Thank you also to Michael Beale for giving me the chance to play for this great club, and thank you to Philippe Clement for allowing me to realise my dream of winning a title with this magnificent club.

"Come on Rangers!"
