Major train delays for Edinburgh commuters after wire comes down at Haymarket in high winds

Commuters heading to and from Edinburgh this evening are facing delays after an electric wire has come down at Haymarket Station.

Network Rail's engineers reported the issue shortly after 4pm, with trains unable service one platform due to "safety reasons".

This is set to lead to major delays throughout the evening, with alternative transport already being put in place.

A Scotrail spokesperson said: "One of the overhead electric wires has come down, so no trains are able to use platform one for just now.

"This will cause delays and alterations, as trains will need to cross over to platform 3 and back again."

Scotrail's website reports "major" issues for services between Edinburgh and Fife, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Passengers have been advised that valid rail tickets will be accepted on these First Bus services: X3, 8, 38, 41, 60 & 60A.
