One person has been transported to hospital in a stable condition after a four-car crash near The Lodge in Deakin.

The incident happened on Adelaide Avenue about 8.20am on Friday, and paramedics assessed several patients at the scene.

Three of the road's four city-bound lanes had to be closed as a result of the incident, and traffic was at one point backed up to the Royal Australian Mint.

The ACT Emergency Services urged people to avoid the area while the incident was being cleared. As well as paramedics, fire crews and police also attended.

A spokesman for ACT Policing said all lanes had been re-opened as at 9.30am on Friday.

The ESA urged the community to take care when travelling through the area.
