Major Star Wars plot hole for Leia Organa and Padme Amidala has been fixed

A major plot hole in the Skywalker saga has now been fixed.

The original Star Wars trilogy featured a scene in Return of the Jedi when siblings Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) discussed her memories of her mother, where Leia said she remembered "images" and "feelings" of her "very beautiful" and "kind but sad" mother.

The prequel trilogy later showed the duo's mother, Queen and later Senator Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman).

Revenge of the Sith showed Padme pass away shortly after giving birth to the twins, however, so how could Leia remember her mother?

A new comic in the Star Wars Adventures 2019 annual has shown how Leia can remember her mother.

The strip shows a toddler Leia escape her adopted mother Queen Breha Organa and her droids and stumble across a statue of Queen Amidala.

The Queen of Alderaan then tells Leia about Padme, before ending by saying: “Leia, love, I know you’re too young to understand all this… to remember, even. But I want you to hold on to this image, this feeling. That spark – the spark. You have it, too.”

So that explains Leia's thoughts on Padme!

The character of Leia is set to make one more cinematic appearance being portrayed by Carrie Fisher in the final instalment of the sequel trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
