Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, has confirmed a Spice Girls announcement is imminent.
The singer, 42, made the admission live on air this morning after a major grilling from her Heart radio co-host Jamie Theakston.
The girl power group will reportedly announce a UK stadium tour later today – minus Victoria Beckham – in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their debut single Wannabe.
Theakston tried his hardest to tease information from Bunton on Monday morning’s show. After reading out a headline from The Sun he said: “It’s time to get the exclusive from Emma Bunton. The truth. It’s the story everyone is talking about. Look at me straight into my eyes. Tell me.”
Bunton replied: “No.”
But she did confirm an announcement is coming this afternoon. “Don’t look me in the eyes Jamie Theakston,” she said. “I can’t [give anything away]. You’re not going to break me this morning.
“Everything will be announced just after three o’clock today on social media. You can go to @SpiceGirls. Please, don’t look at me anymore because I might just blurt it out. I’m so excited. I just want it out there.”
Bunton, Geri Horner, Mel C and Mel B are expected to announce a summer stadium tour via a mock news bulletin.
A source told The Sun: “This is the biggest music comeback of the decade and tickets are expected to sell like hot cakes when they go on sale at the weekend.”
Talk of a tour has been bandied about since the group confirmed their reunion in February at Horner’s house, but the group have remained tight-lipped about plans.
Mel B made a dig at Beckham last week after dressing up as Posh Spice for Halloween and carrying a sign brandishing the words: “NO I AM NOT GOING ON TOUR.”
