Major south Manchester road closed after crash involving council CCTV van

One of the main roads in south Manchester was closed tonight after a crash involving a council CCTV van.

The smash happened on Burnage Lane in Burnage at around 9:20pm.

A Renault van, emblazoned with Manchester City Council's logo and the words 'CCTV enforcement' was involved in the crash.

The exact circumstances of the collision are not known but there was a second damaged car, a red Toyota, also at the scene.

Emergency services were called and police closed the road for around an hour between Mauldeth Road and Hyde Fold Close.

Officers could be seen dealing with the aftermath and carrying out enquiries outside The Farmers Arms pub where street furniture had also been knocked over.

An ambulance could also be seen at the police cordon but a GMP spokesman said tonight no one required hospital treatment.
