An operation underway on the New South Wales South Coast to find a fisherman is believed to be linked to the search for man reported missing from Sydney overnight.

Police have appealed for information from the public to find Duc Nguyen Ong, who was last seen leaving his Cabramatta home around 10am yesterday.

The 34-year-old was last seen wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, black shorts, and work boots.

He was reported missing by his family when he failed to return home overnight.

Police believe he may have driven his white Hyundai iLoad, with NSW registration ENS 92C, to the Kiama and Gerringong area.

Personal possessions were found on rocks in the area.  (ABC Illawarra: Justin Huntsdale)

Mr Nguyen Ong's car was found this morning parked at Marsden Heads, near the Little Blowhole at Kiama.

Police said he was seen walking towards the rock ledge around noon yesterday, and personal possessions have been found on the rocks.

Local police, Marine Area Command, PolAir, Marine Rescue NSW, and Surf Life Saving NSW are now searching the coastline between Kendalls Beach and Shoalhaven Heads.
