Emergency services have resumed the search for a missing person in North Cork this morning.
Gardai, The Guileen Coast Guard, Civil Defence, and Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery [CCMPSAR] were all out in the Killavullen area between Mallow and Fermoy since around 3pm on Tuesday.
The coast guard's Rescue 117 helicopter is also involved in the operation as well as the Garda Dog Unit.
Over 27 volunteers were out from the Cork North Civil Defence while eight came from the CCMPSAR Charity - CorkBeo reports.
The alarm was raised at around 3pm on Tuesday and the search got underway around woodland areas near the village.
The task went on until it got too dark around 10.45pm and they were stood down with plans to resume in the morning.
The Cork North Civil Defence said: "Callout: We were tasked by Gardai Tuesday evening to assist in a missing person search in the Killavullen area.
"We had a great turnout of over 27 volunteers.Also involved in the search were local Garda, Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery ,Garda Search dogs, Rescue 117 and Guileen Coast Guard.
"Thanks to all our volunteers for attending at such short notice.Search resumes in the morning."
CCMPSAR said: "We were tasked by the Gardai at 3pm today [Tuesday] to search for a missing person in the Fermoy area we responded with 8 volunteers and 3 vehicles and were on location at 3.45pm.
"We were stood down at 10.45 pm after searching a large wooded area we will be returning tomorrow [Wednesday] to assist in the search."
