Major search launched for missing Highlands man who may have hitchhiked after vanishing

A major search has been launched to find a man who went missing from the Highlands on Tuesday night.

Peter Munro, from Achintraid near Lochcarron , vanished on Tuesday, March 3 at around 10.30pm from Dornie near Eilean Donan Castle.

It's believed the 41-year-old attempted to hitch hike along the A87, A890 or A896.

Cops , Kintail Mountain Rescue, the Rescue Dog Association and a coastguard helicopter team are due to conduct further searches for Peter.

When he was last seen he was wearing a dark coloured jacket, blue jeans and carrying a blue rucksack.

People living between Dornie and Achintraid are being asked by Police Scotland to check any sheds or outbuildings.

Anyone who has seen Peter since Tuesday night or who has travelled on the roads and may have dash cam footage is being urged to contact police on 101 quoting the incident number 1396.
