Major search and rescue mission after man falls into Scots river

A major search and rescue mission is underway after reports of a man falling from a Fife bridge into the River Leven.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Riverside Park in Glenrothes at around 10.28am.

Police Scotland confirmed they are still in attendance at the scene and a specialist water rescue team has been called in.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added that they also have seven appliances in attendance.

The A911 has been closed to all traffic while emergency services try and find the man.

An air ambulance is also reported to have landed close to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers received reports of a man having fallen into the River Leven from a bridge at Riverside Park in Glenrothes at around 10.28am.

“Emergency Services are in attendance and a search and rescue operation is currently underway.”
