Major ScotRail disruptions during festive season on West Lothian to Edinburgh line

Commuters from West Lothian are to expect a 'weekend of travel hell' on the first weekend after Christmas.

Network Rail are carrying out vital planned engineering work near Haymarket on these dates and services on several routes to and from Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket stations will start and terminate before reaching the capital city.

As a result ScotRail are asking commuters from West Lothian travelling to Edinburgh between Friday 27 and Sunday December 29 to consider making alternative arrangements.

On the Edinburgh to Glasgow Central via Shotts line, trains will operate on a reduced hourly service and will start and terminate at West Calder with a very limited replacement bus service running between West Calder and the capital.

On the Edinburgh to Helensburgh Central and Milngavie lines, trains will start and terminate at Bathgate with a very limited replacement bus service running between Bathgate and Edinburgh.
