Major Scotrail disruption with raft of Edinburgh services cancelled due to 'points failure'

Rail passengers are facing yet more major disruption due to a "points failure" near Edinburgh.

ScotRail announced at around 6.15pm that there was an issue at the Newbridge junction on the line between Edinburgh Park and Uphall and Linlithgow.

As a result services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High, Edinburgh and Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh and Dunblane are affected.

They say that all services between the capital and Helensburgh Central/ Milngavie would be starting and terminating at Bathgate. Replacement buses are to be in operation between Edinburgh Park and Bathgate from shortly after 7pm.

It was confirmed at around 6.45pm that a tram from Network Rail had arrived at the scene of the problem and were trying to work out what the issue is.

A number of rail services have been cancelled or altered due to this. For more information visit the Scotrail website .
