Major road in Bolton closed for essential repairs

Essential maintenance works had to be carried out on a major road in Bolton, closing it to drivers for two nights this weekend.

St Peter's Way was closed on March 7 and 8 as engineers worked throughout the nights to remove litter, clean the road, and carry out repairs to barriers, street lighting, signs and drains.

The full length of the A666 was closed in both directions - between Topp Way and the Kearsley Spur - including all slip roads. The roads were closed from 10pm until 6am.

Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Stuart Haslam, said: “We have scheduled these essential works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and we would like to thank drivers for their understanding and patience.”

St Peter’s Way is closed six times throughout the year for essential maintenance.

Later in the year, tree maintenance, grass cutting and weed control will be undertaken.
