A BUSY road is set for a series of road closures as part of essential improvement works that will last up to three months.
The project will take place on the A80 Cumbernauld Road near Junction 12 of the M8, starting September 13 and running until November 10, 2026.
The closures are to allow for parapet replacements, carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The project will be completed in two phases, beginning with work on the southbound carriageway before moving to the northbound side.
Amey said the scheme aims to improve the "safety and condition of the carriageway structures" and will benefit vehicles using the route each day.
In phase one, a continuous 24-hour closure of lane one on the A80 southbound will be in place between Sunday, September 13, and Monday, October 12.
Several full overnight closures will also take place along the southbound A80 and the M8 westbound Junction 12 on-slip between 8pm and 6am on September 13, September 14, October 11, and October 12.
Lane one and two will close between 8pm and 6am – with lane three remaining open – on September 15 to 17, September 20 to 24, September 30, and October 7.
Phase two will see lane one of the northbound A80 closed for 24 hours a day between October 13 and November 10.
Full overnight closures of the northbound carriageway will take place between 8pm and 6am on October 13 to 17, October 21 to 24, October 28, November 4, and November 8 to 9.
During southbound closures, traffic will be diverted via Gartloch Road, Ave End Road, Stepps Road, and Edinburgh Road.
For northbound closures, drivers will be diverted along Edinburgh Road, Stepps Road, and Gartloch Road.
Emergency services will have full access throughout the works.
Amey said all work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are poor.
The company thanked road users for their "patience and understanding" during the project.
