Gardai say two people have died in a "serious incident" on a major commuter road in Dublin.
A man in his 60s and a woman in her 30s, both single occupants of their vehicles died in the tragic accident at 6.30am this morning.
The Swords Road has been closed off in Drumcondra, near the Richmond Road junction following the incident.
A garda spokesperson said: "A technical and forensic examination of the scene is currently underway. Drumcondra Road Lower will remain closed in both directions for a number of hours and diversions remain in place."
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Dublin City Mortuary in Whitehall where post mortems will take place.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and gardai are directing traffic, Dublin Live reports.
There are long inbound delays on approach and motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
Inbound traffic is being diverted via Richmond Road and Botanic Avenue and outbound via St Alphonsus’ Road.

Elsewhere, there are already long inbound delays from St Mobhi Road down to Hart’s Corner and through to Doyle’s Corner on the Phibsborough Road.
Traffic is moving well in both directions on the M50.
