Following the crash the A-road, which connects Swansea to Chester, was closed in both direction between Berriew and Welshpool until 9.30am.

In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Police were called to a collision between two HGV lorries and an Audi on the A483 at around 5.30am today.

"The road was blocked by the incident and recovery was needed for all three vehicles.

"One man was taken to hospital."

Firefighters were also called, with crews from Welshpool attending the crash.

"The fire service assisted the police and left the incident at 7.17am," the statement added.

The Welsh Ambulance Service responded with one emergency ambulance and one on-call doctor.
