Major road closed following three-car crash in Ashton-under-Lyne

One of Greater Manchester's busiest roads was closed on Saturday afternoon following a three-car crash.

The incident happened at the junction of the A635 Manchester Road and A6140 Audenshaw Road in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Pictures from the scene showed an Audi S3, a Vauxhall Grandland and a Fiat Punto had been damaged during the crash.

The Audi and Vauxhall had suffered extensive damage.

The Audi was badly damaged (ASP)

The road was closed and diversions were put in place while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Stagecoach diverted buses via Lord Sheldon Way.

No details of any casualties have emerged.

The road reopened by 4.30pm.

Greater Manchester Police declined to comment on the incident.
