A major road has been closed at rush-hour after a collision involving a motorbike and a car.
Police said the motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries.
They have been taken to hospital for treatment, although a GMP spokesman said the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The closure affects the busy A664 Manchester New Road in Middleton.
The road connects Manchester city centre with Middleton and the closure is in the Alkrington area.
Transport for Greater Manchester said the road was closed between Mount Road in Middleton and Mainway.
They cited a 'police incident'.
Motorists were asked to find alternative routes.

Traffic reports said the collision happened near Alkrington Church and confirmed the road was closed in both directions.
Heavy, queueing traffic was reported and diversions are understood to be in place.
