Major rise in coronavirus cases reported in Nottinghamshire in just 24 hours

More than 700 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in the last 24 hours.

Figures released on Thursday (November 12) show 708 people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hour window.

This is more than double the amount recorded in Wednesday's data, when 312 new cases were recorded across the city and county.

Nottingham recorded 206 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Bassetlaw recorded 100 in the same period.

Gedling had the third greatest rise in the number of positive tests with 85 cases, with Ashfield also recording 79 new cases in the last 24 hours.

There were also 74 new cases in Rushcliffe, 61 in Newark and Sherwood and a further 46 in Mansfield.

It comes as 595 new deaths were recorded nationally with people who died 28 days after a positive Covid-19 test.

It takes the country's total to 50,365 since the pandemic began.

In total, 33,470 people have tested positive for Covid-19 nationally in the last 24 hours.

This is the highest daily total on record.

Ashfield - 2,751 (increase of 79)

Bassetlaw - 2,777 (increase of 100)

Broxtowe - 2,779 (increase of 57)

Gedling - 2,945 (increase of 85)

Mansfield - 2,245 (increase of 46)

Newark and Sherwood - 2,270 (increase of 61)

Nottingham - 13,322 (increase of 206)

Rushcliffe - 2,878 (increase of 74)
