Major reshuffle at Newcastle United on the cards if Rafa Benitez stays with SIX players potentially set for Toon exit

Rafa Benitez is expected to perform a major reshuffle with his Toon squad this summer - IF he stays on as Newcastle United boss.

With United owner Mike Ashley again wanting managing director Lee Charnley to cut his cloth accordingly with finances, it could see a clutch of players depart Benton as the club look to make funds available for incoming stars.

Benitez did not register Rob Elliot or Rolando Aarons as Premier League players this season and with time on their contracts left, both could be sold to clear the wage bill.

Aarons is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the campaign and United will offer the Owls the chance to buy the winger on a permanent deal, something Steve Bruce is believed to be interested in as he looks to the future.

Benitez stated Elliot was for sale in January before he picked up a back injury and nothing seems to have changed on that front.

Achraf Lazaar is another that United are ready to listen to offers for with the Morocco international also on loan with Sheff Wed.

Jack Colback has another year left on his contract but knows he is unlikely to have a future at United - regardless of whether Benitez stays or not.

Newcastle are prepared to off-load Colback, who earns around £50,000 per week, to Nottingham Forest where he has spent on the last two seasons on loan.

Others to depart will be Henri Saivet where United will look to make a saving of £35,000 per week.

Jack Colback admits his Newcastle career is over, whether Rafa Benitez stays or not

Saivet has been on loan at Bursaspor, where he has scored twice in the last three games, and the Turkish club have first refusal to make the move a permanent deal.

Newcastle have already told winger Cal Roberts he can leave at the end of the season after a recent loan deal with Colchester United was cut short over a lack of game-time.

Roberts has impressed Benitez but both parties know he must be playing every week at senior level, and that is something that can't be guaranteed next season with the Magpies.

But United still have some big calls to make on Freddie Woodman after the young goalkeeper was denied the chance to go out on loan because of a contract wrangle.

Arsenal and Fulham interested in Freddie Woodman with Newcastle goalkeeper stuck in football limbo

Woodman has just one year left to run and United risk losing him to other Premier League rivals with Arsenal and Everton keeping tabs on the Croydon-born stopper.

Soon to be relegated Fulham have also checked out Woodman this season along with Scottish giants Celtic.

However, Newcastle can expect both Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle back at the club in July if West Bromwich Albion fail to get promoted.

Gayle would not rule out a return to Tyneside and still has a lucrative deal for another two years while Murphy was only prepared to drop to the Championship for a temporary stint.
