A major rescue operation was launched at the River Clyde at Bothwell last night amid reports of a person in trouble near the water.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the river at Blantyre Mill Road after the alarm was raised around 9pm on June 28.
Two fire appliances, two water rescue units and a specialist rope rescue team were in attendance soon after receiving the report.
Following a rope rescue the casualty was removed to safety.
Members of the public posted about seeing several emergency service vehicles also attending the scene from the Blantyre side of the river, close to the David Livingstone Bridge, just off of Station Road.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted to reports of a person in difficulty on Monday night.
"Operations Control mobilised two appliances, two water rescue units and a specialist rope rescue team and firefighters removed the casualty to safety before handing them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
Police Scotland said: "We received a report from a member of the public of concern for another person."
