Major Cineplex Group reported quarterly revenue of 2.04 billion baht as of September 2018 and a corporate net income of 206 million baht.
Total profit margin for the third quarter ended in September was 10.1%.
Vicha Poolvaraluck, chairman of Major Group, voiced confidence that the group's business expansion of an additional 74 cinemas in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos in 2019 would be great for the cinema business.
He said the company plans to expand further in 2019, enabling entertainment centres to reach all strategic locations nationwide.
"The number of cineplexes in the country are too few for the country's 67.7 million population," Mr Vicha said.
He said Major's 160 branches (771 screens) aren't sufficient to meet demand.
Currently the company has 349 screens in Bangkok, 385 screens in the provinces and 37 screens in Cambodia and Laos.
Across its cinemas, Major screened 313 films this year, 270 of which were international films and 43 of them Thai.
"Major's revenues are mainly from international blockbusters, although Thai films are increasing in popularity and have made a huge contribution to the company's revenues this year," Mr Vicha said.
Nakee 2, for instance, earned 450 million baht, he said, while other Thai films like Homestay and Gravity of Love were also popular among cinema-goers.
Mr Vicha, who is also vice-chairman of M Pictures Entertainment Plc, said the company plans to take more Thai films to the international market.
"In 2019, Major will screen around 50 Thai films, 23 of which are produced by M Pictures and 270 are international films, he said, adding that the company forecasts continued growth in lifestyle entertainment in 2019.
